Are you sure your current anti-theft system protects you against theft using jammers? Although most cargo security systems claim to be equipped to prevent theft using this type of technology, the reality is that very few are truly capable of thwarting a theft without causing serious road accidents.
Keep reading to discover the most common situations in which you’ll be glad to have a robust truck security system with Antijammer Duo:
Six situations where you're not actually protected against theft with a jammer
1. Your current solution does not detect any type of jammer
If your cargo security system is unable to detect electromagnetic interference from a communication jammer, the unit will simply stop updating its location on the platform without you realizing it, making it easier for criminals to carry out the theft.
The answer: Your security system should have a lockout sequence that safely and automatically disables the unit when it detects a jammer.
2. Your current solution causes the engine to stall abruptly
Stopping the vehicle upon detecting a jammer is the correct response for a truck anti-theft system, but the key lies in how this shutdown is carried out. When the engine is cut off directly, the vehicle loses all functionality; and if it is in motion, this can have catastrophic consequences.
The answer: The anti-jamming system must include a throttle lock, not an engine lock. This ensures that the dashboard, steering wheel, and brakes continue to function, preventing accidents even if the vehicle locks up while in motion.
3. Your solution cannot distinguish when a jammer is authorized
There are situations in which jammers are legal, such as at certain military checkpoints or roadblocks. If your security system cannot distinguish between a legal jammer and an illegal one, you will experience numerous unnecessary blockages that will cause you to waste valuable resources.
The answer: Your anti-jammer system must include a delay button to pause the jamming sequence for a few minutes, giving the operator time to move away from the area where the authorized jammer is located before the unit is jammed. This delay button should be limited to a maximum of two uses, in order to avoid other types of risks, such as those mentioned in the following section.
4. Your carrier has the authority to unlock the device on its own
It has been proven that, in most cases, unit operators collude with organized crime to carry out a theft. If your operator has a way to unlock the unit remotely without contacting headquarters, this increases the likelihood that the theft will be successful.
The answer: The only way to unlock the unit on-site is through a security system that uses keypads with dynamic codes similar to those found on bank tokens. In this way, the operator must contact the monitoring center and complete a series of security checks, after which the analyst provides a code that allows the operator to unlock the unit on-site.
5. Your solution does not detect GPS jammers
The most well-known jammers are communication jammers: those that block cell phone and radio signals, among others. However, there are also jammers that block GPS signals, making it appear as though the device is still reporting accurately and on time, even though its actual location is not the one shown on the platform.
The answer: You need an Antijammer Duo that can detect both communication and positioning jammers and is capable of taking automatic action in response to any of these devices.
6. Your solution does not issue alerts when it identifies a risky situation
Even with an automatic lock, there is still a chance that criminals could gain control of the vehicle to carry out the theft, all without the monitoring center even realizing that anything has happened.
The answer: Your security system must have predefined business rules to securely and automatically lock the device, while immediately notifying the analyst without the need for human intervention.
